Well,
the presentation of this release comes also with a feeling of nostalgia. I had
presented the previous 2 demos of SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION when I was younger
and of course the webzine was at its first years of existence. So, I was really
happy to see that the band is still active and I was also intrigued to see how
the band sounds these days.
The
band’s name might be misleading since you might think that we have to do with a
thrash metal band that is influenced by MEGADETH. Well, that’s not the case,
although there is a connection between these two bands. Which is that? Both
bands have strong influences from the N.W.O.B.H.M. sound. In their new release
SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION continue to deliver traditional heavy metal that has a
lot of references in the N.W.O.B.H.M. movement along with some BLACK SABBATH/JUDAS
PRIEST touches. The 3 compositions that are included here are well developed
and balanced. Also the lead parts are quite catchy and detailed and add to the
final result.
Eight
years might have passed from their previous release, but it seems that this
worked beneficially for them. The band sounds mature and more confident and I
think that the 3 songs that are included here are their most complete creations
so far. Also I have to underline here that SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION have
achieved to create a recognizable sound. If there is something they can improve
without it being bad though is the sound production. In my opinion the fans of
classic heavy metal should check these guys out.
